Bottlebrush, Callistemon viminalis
The weeping bottlebrush keeps its red flowers, which resemble the brushes to clean bottles, almost all year long.  If you are looking for a tree that won't grow into a monster, this may be the one for you.  They only get about twenty feet high.
Bottlebrush are often planted in a row and tend to mesh together.  Lower foliage can be left unpruned to use bottlebrush as a solid hedge.
A mature bottlebrush is pictured by the corner of a house providing shade and beauty.
