Eugenia, Eugenia myrtifolia
Eugenia is the epitome of a formal landscape shrub.  The small leaves and plant properties make them perfect for topiaries and formal hedges.  They can be sheared and trained to whatever you like.  Often they are used to hide electrical boxes and A/C units.  Pictured, eugenias are used as a screening and backdrop around the tennis courts.

Spirals and pom-poms ae popular eugenia topiaries used at entrances.
The eugenia hedge forms a perfect living fence in this screening.  Southern magnolia trees are elegantly spaced as breaks in the hedge.  Low growing Indian hawthornes are used for the the first tier.
