Schillings Dwarf, Ilex vomitoria 'Schillings'
Ilex schillings is another shrub that looks best neatly pruned. Small spheres sit under the magnolia tree. Purple loropetalum spheres and a square cut podocarpus hedge complete this formal design.
The ilex schillings pictured in front are kept at about thirty inches high. A eugenia hedge forms the backdrop for this arrangement.
Ilex schillings sit under a paurotis palm. It looks like the ilex spheres have begun to mesh together into one mass. Often as the plant ages and grows, merging spheres can be sheared into a single mass with a wavy appearance on top.
