Washingtonian, Washingtonian robusta
The full green heads are characteristic of Washingtonians. Be careful when pruning the "beards". Frond branches have serrated edges. They are rapid growers that will reach up to ninety feet in time.
If you plant a small washingtonian palm by your one-story home, figure you have about ten years before it outgrows the house.
As washingtonians get older and taller, they tend to shed their boots. Beards can be left on the palms for an "old Florida" look.
