Wax Myrtle, Myrica cerifera
The low maintenance Florida native can be used as a tree or a shrub.  Look for male plants if you don't want berries.  If you like birds, then get female wax myrtles.
Popular native plantings include wax myrtles, native grasses, and live oak trees.  Be sure to prune away suckers that form at the base of wax myrtles.
